General
Communication
My email is [email protected] and the school number is (980) 343- 6725. The best way to reach me is through email. I check my email in the morning before students arrive, and in the afternoon after dismissal. If there is an urgent or time sensitive issue, such as a change is transportation, please contact the office with your information and they may contact the classroom. I also utilize the Remind App. You can receive text messages from this app from me about happenings in the classroom. To sign up, please go to the following link: https://www.remind.com/join/allenLL5
Arriving at school on time
It is important that your child arrives to school on time each day. Your child will need to be at school and ready to learn by 8:00 am. We will begin class immediately following the morning broadcast. It is essential to your child's academic growth that he/she is not absent.
Lunch/Recess
Lunch is 11:00-11:25 and recess is 11:25-11:55. If you plan on joining your child for lunch meet us outside of the cafeteria at our lunch time.
Snack
Your child should bring a healthy snack each day. Snack will be at 1:45 everyday. It must be a healthy snack (veggies, fruit, crackers, pretzels, raisins, etc.) that is easy to take out as students will continue to work during this time. Please do not bring sweets, snacks that need spoons, or messy foods. A labeled water bottle with a top is permitted in the classroom.

Behavior Management
I use Class Dojo as a behavior management tool. Here's how it works:
You will receive a letter to sign up for a Class Dojo account. It is free and there's an app for it. Use to provided code to link to your child.
You will be notified when your child has earned points for positive behavior. Students can earn points for things like:
Being respectful
Helping others
Going the extra mile
Being a role model for others
Getting a compliment from other teachers/adults
Having an excellent special area class
Students will receive incentives for hitting "point milestones"
Students can also lose points. However, you will not be notified of this. These negative points are only to remind students to think about their actions and behavior. In most cases, students earn their negative points back.
If a child is having an exceptionally hard day, I will personally call, email or write a note in your child's agenda so that you can follow up at home.
